Halie Loren ‘After Dark’ Album Review

Halie Loren, the young American jazz singer, has both an exquisite musical sense and the talent for phrasing that makes a song come alive.

This is a recording of exceptional merit that hits the jazz and classical scenes with all of the impact of its original notorious performance.

This alternative-rock album takes you to unexpected places, disconcerting and exhilarating at the same time.

Here are 10 phenomenal recordings, to be treasured for their inherent musical performances just as much as for their sound quality.

Was there ever a debut album more fittingly titled than Steve Forbert’s astonishing 1978 release ‘Alive on Arrival’?

Their vulnerability, their earnestness, and the flavourful production of their recordings make the Everly Brothers catalogue one of the richest.
